Dear St. Aidan’s,

It’s been a joy to join this community over the past few weeks. Thank you for your warm welcome!

A new feature of our weekly newsletter is that I will include a short note to highlight upcoming events and opportunities for service in our parish community.

This Sunday, October 1, we will celebrate our annual Blessing of the Animals. Bring your pets to receive a special blessing anytime between 2-3 p.m. in front of the church. Please let neighbours, friends, and family know that they and their pets are most welcome. (Note that all pets should be either on a leash or in an appropriate carrier. Pets who are not good with people or with other animals should be kept at home, but we are happy to send some treats home to them.)

Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday is coming up on October 8. Please bring non-perishable items to the Sunday worship service to share with our friends at the Grace Pascoe Food Bank. We will have baskets in front of the altar table to collect these gifts and we will say a special blessing over these gifts we are sharing from the abundance God has given to us. Items we will be collecting are peanut butter, canned fish, canned vegetables, pasta sauce, canned beans, cereal, granola bars, diapers (size 1-5), baby formula, and period products.

Coming up soon in the life of our church is our celebration of All Saints’ Sunday on November 5. All Saints’ is one of the four special days in our church calendar when we are to celebrate the sacrament of baptism. If you would like to consider baptism for yourself or your child, please email me at priest@staidansinthebeach.com to learn more and so we find a time for a conversation about this important sacrament in our Christian faith.

Grace and peace,

Becky+
