Floating Villages and a Growing Eco-Oasis: Centre for Resilience  Join Ben Reid-Howells and Prashant Kumar on Zoom at 8pm on Wednesday April 27th for a live update on the Centre for Resilience that they founded in Bihar, India, three years ago. Many of you have followed Ben's adventures and supported him in different ways. This will be a chance to join an evening of stories from the work on the ground and the visions of what's to come. The Zoom link is here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84351533380  Meeting ID: 843 5153 3380 4. Michael's widow Bonnie and other family members will also be present. Michael died of Covid-19 last year. 5. Toronto Island Retreat Day: Saturday May 7th  A day of relaxation, prayer and re-creation for body, mind and spirit as we seek guidance for how to live faithfully in this time of urgent call for right relationship with the Earth. Priest and theologian Thomas Berry names this time as “an historical moment of grace when disaster can be turned into creativity.”A short ferry ride from the foot of Yonge Street offers the perfect place, the beautiful church of St. Andrew-by-the-Lake on Toronto Island, where we are invited for the day to be both in the heart of the City and apart from it.Together we’ll reflect on our going into the future as a single sacred community with nature as a revelation of the divine, all towards greater healing and wholeness. We’ll celebrate the gift of being here now, in this place, by grace acting in alignment with God’s Holy Wisdom, courage and excitement.  Please come! We'll catch the 9:30am ferry and plan to take a ferry back around 4pm. Cost: $20 plus your ferry fare. Bring your own bag lunch. Please sign up in the narthex or by emailing Lucy at lreid08@gmail.com. More details when you register. 6. Special Vestry Meeting: Sunday May 15th  Following our 10:30 service on May 15th a Special Vestry Meeting will be held in the church and on Zoom to elect and appoint members of a Parish Selection Committee. The committee will represent the parish in working with Bishop Kevin Robertson to find a new incumbent following Lucy's retirement at the end of May.The Zoom link for the Special Vestry Meeting is the usual one for Sunday morning:https://zoom.us/j/91628466455?pwd=K0swMVZvcmdQcnJRZi93ajh0RC9VUT09Passcode: 548507 7. Resignation of Archbishop Mark MacDonald  On Wednesday, April 20, Mark MacDonald resigned as National Indigenous Archbishop and relinquished the exercise of ordained ministry – because of acknowledged sexual misconduct. This is highly disturbing news that will have a wide-reaching impact on the Anglican Church of Canada. Please pray for those who have been harmed by Mark, for residential school survivors who have trusted him, for those involved in Indigenous ministries who must now deal with the fallout of Mark’s actions, for Mark’s family, and for Mark himself. Archbishop Linda Nicholls, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, has released a pastoral letter about this matter (www.anglican.ca/news). She has also appointed Sidney Black, former Bishop of Treaty 7 Territory within the Diocese of Calgary, to be the Interim National Indigenous Bishop. Please pray for Bishop Sidney as he gives counsel and oversight to Indigenous ministries. 8. Food Bank Items Wanted We are once again collecting non-perishable food items for the Grace Pascoe Care Centre food bank. Please place them in the basket in the narthex. Thank you! 9. Volunteers needed for two hours on Saturday May 30 to distribute posters announcing the Beach Interfaith sponsorship of the Provincial Candidates meeting on May 12. We will meet at the church at 10 a.m. on Saturday April 30 to put up posters on announcement boards, in stores or poles. We will move west along Queen Street from the church to Woodbine.  St. Aidan's is participating with 12 other faith communities in the Beaches East York riding to promote this event. People from other congregations are going to be postering other main streets and areas of the riding and this will be our bit.  If you are interested, contact Michael Van Dusen at mjpvandusen@gmail.com.9.
