2. Instructed Eucharist Sunday, November 27 (Advent I) will be an Instructed Eucharist. This will be a service involving children and youth, as we all learn about the details of our Sunday services and why they matter. Children’s and youth programming will resume downstairs on the following Sunday - December 4.   3. Music & Advent  A new liturgical year begins! Music is an integral part of our worship services, and you’ll have noticed that its mood and timbre change throughout our liturgical year. While it is tempting to jump right into the Christmas season, our focus in Advent is instead on the three-fold coming of Christ: Remembering the events that surrounded Christ’s coming long ago, Celebrating Christ’s coming among us today, and Looking forward to Christ’s final coming in glory. During advent, we observe this period of preparation by utilizing a more contemplative worship style. In place of preludes each week, there will be a sung choral Introit, which recalls the theme of each Sunday; Hope, Peace, Joy, Love. In place of a postlude, a soft voluntary will be played each week. Happy Advent!

4. Advent Wreath Making   Join us in the church at 9:00 am on Sunday, November 27th for some advent wreath making! Come after the 8:30 service or before the 10:30 - all ages welcome! Materials cost is $40 or pay what you can. Contact Martha (416 845-7675) martha.asselin@sympatico.ca for more information or click here to sign up.

5. Advent Study

The Church: A Place of Refuge and Resilience This year’s Advent study program will look at Debra Reinstra’s book and podcast: Refugia Faith. Reinstra offers an exciting challenge for communities of faith in today’s world of crises and anxiety. Led by Michael Van Dusen and Martha Asselin, the series will include study sessions Sunday December 4 and 11, immediately after the 10.30 a.m. services. Please join us. The sessions will be at the church.

The Diocese is also inviting donations towards the creation of a Spirit Garden at Toronto City Hall in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s call for the installation of Residential School Monuments in each provincial capital. A display and information packages are at the back of the church. You can also access the materials on-line at https://faithworks.ca
