2. Preparation for Confirmation

Confirmation is an important event when a person confirms their own baptism and commits to live more intentionally into their baptismal vows. Some preparation is involved, which includes gathering with other confirmation candidates for fun discussion sessions with the Rev. Jeff Nowers. At the end of the preparation, the bishop will confirm candidates during a special service. If you are interested in confirmation, please speak to Jeff. If you’d like to be confirmed and haven’t yet been baptized, all the more reason to speak to Jeff! Preparation sessions will be held during the season of Lent.

3. What Is Interfaith Ministry?  An Important Diocesan Panel on Zoom

The Bishop’s Committee for Interfaith Ministry (co-chaired by the Rev. Jeff Nowers) will be holding its first education event on Zoom—Monday, January 30, 7:00-9:00pm. The panel will feature Guru Fatha Singh Khalsa (Sikh chaplain), Imam Abdul Hai Patel (Muslim chaplain), and Jennifer Bright (Buddhist psychotherapist) discussing why and how they engage other faiths, particularly Christianity. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how interfaith cooperation is practiced. Event details, including the Zoom link, will be available soon.

4. Supper at St. Aidan's, Thursday, January 19, 5:45pm - 7:15pm

On Thursday, January 19, our parish will host our neighbours in the Beach for dinner and community building.  We hope you will join us, bring your friends and neighbours, and engage with newcomers at the dinner.  RSVP at this link or by phone to the church office.   We also need help with set up, dinner prep, children’s activities, clean up and more; to volunteer at one of our upcoming dinners, please sign up here.

5. Offering Envelopes for 2023

If you would like a set of weekly offering envelopes for 2023, please speak the Donations Secretary, Amy Ferguson at church or by email donations@staidansinthebeach.com  If you would prefer to make regular donations using pre-authorized debit (PAG) you can find the sign up form on our website or pick up a paper copy at church. Other donation options are also available, please speak to Amy or email if you have questions. Thank you for your financial support of the ministries at St. Aidan's.

6. Masking Strongly Recommended Indoors

Because of the ongoing stress on our hospitals, Bishop Andrew Asbil has issued an important memo “strongly recommending the wearing of masks in indoor public settings, including in our church buildings.” He concludes his plea with these words: “As we come to the end of another difficult year, may God grant that we not tire of caring for our neighbours, but rather work toward the Reign of Christ when all will be reconciled in Him and in true wholeness of health.”

7. Euchre

Join us on Tuesday nights at 7pm for a fun and friendly evening of progressive Euchre downstairs in the main hall.  Beginners welcome.  $5.00 to play.  All proceeds go to St. Aidan’s Church community outreach.

8. Food Bank Needs

Donations of non-perishable food items for the Grace Pascoe Care Centre food bank and the St. John’s Norway food pantry are always welcome. Please place them in the basket in the narthex. Note: empty egg cartons are needed once again.  Your donations are delivered every week or two and are very well received. Thank you!
