Friends, we will be re-opening the church for in-person services on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd, and it will be open thereafter.  Our last Zoom service will therefore be this Sunday February 27th at 9:30. Services in the church will resume on Sundays at 8:30 and 10:30 am. There will be an official celebratory opening service with Bishop Kevin Robertson on Sunday March 27 at 10:30 am, with an open house for the community the day before (see notice below).  Please pray with us that our final preparations will be completed smoothly, and the long period of disruption come to a close. And now this week's notices: NOTICES AT A GLANCE - more details below   1. Annual Vestry Meeting February 27Our annual vestry meeting will be held on Zoom this Sunday February 27 following the 9:30 am service. We expect to call the meeting to order around 10:30 am. All parishioners are encouraged to attend. The brochure with all reports has been sent out by email.  The financial statements will be sent either later today or tomorrow. 5. Social Justice and Advocacy MotionOnce again the diocesan Social Justice and Advocacy Committee has put forward a motion for parishes to consider at their annual vestry meetings. This year the focus is on justice for workers, especially those who are precariously employed. Diocesan Black History Month ServiceBlack Anglicans of Canada invites Canadian Anglicans to the 27th annual Celebration of the Black Heritage of our Church on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. on YouTube. This will be the first time Black Anglicans will be gathering virtually from across Canada for this service. 7. Pancake Tuesday March 1stJoin us on Zoom for a Pancake Party at 6:00 pm! This Tuesday we will gather (virtually) to cook together, catch up, and play a game or two! All are welcome and we hope you can make it: https://tdsb-ca.zoom.us/j/91046036597 8. Ash Wednesday March 2ndWe will be holding our Ash Wednesday services in the church at 10:30am and 7:30 pm (note corrected times), with ashes and eucharist at both services, and abiding by the latest protocols for safety from the province and our bishops. 9. Parish Lenten group: Holy Listening, Monday eveningsWhere is God in the crises of our day? This Lent we are going to gather weekly to listen for God’s voice in the tumult. Led by our clergy and our own congregation, the five-part series begins Monday March 7 at 7.30 pm on Zoom. It will continue the following four Mondays, March 14, 21, 28 and April 4, at the same time.We will reflect on the question: coming out of the Covid pandemic, what have we learned? What are the voices emerging from these crises telling us? How are we called to respond? Are there signs of hope for the future? What is our role as Christians? Please join us. 10. PWRDF Lenten seriesThe Primate's World Relief and Development Fund, an Anglican aid organization, is offering an online Lenten series focusing on conversations with three women who attended the recent COP26 environmental conference. Volunteers Needed for Church Open House, Saturday March 26  On Saturday March 26 from 11 am to 3pm, we will be opening our doors for community tours of our renovated building.  We need volunteers from the parish to welcome and help direct people through the building.  If you can spare an hour during that time, please contact Courtney Ebner at courtneyebner@yahoo.com with your availability.  12. Volunteer Readers at Sunday ServicesOne of the ways to participate in our Sunday services is by volunteering to read a passage, usually from the Old Testament or the Epistles. There is a roster of almost 50 St. Aidaners at present, but this list is NOT closed. If you would like to take a turn at reading one Sunday, please contact Barry Webster at balmybarry@gmail.com or 416-693-4900. (Note correction of email address.) 13. Altar Guild Flowers and Aumbry CandleOnce we are back in the church we are going to resume our donation programme for altar flowers and aumbry candles. If you would like to dedicate the flowers or candle for a particular Sunday the cost for flowers is $80 for one Sunday and the aumbry candle is $40 for a full month. Tax Receipts for 2021Receipts for your 2021 direct donations to St. Aidan’s have been sent out.  Where possible, the receipt was sent electronically to the email address we have on file for you.  Please check your junk/spam email if you have not received it. If we do not have email on file for you, a receipt was printed and mailed to you on Tues.
